Linda Has Been Riding for 27 Years!
My name is linda and this photo is of me and new 2009 Heritage Softail® I purchased in July 2009. I also have a 1980 Harley® Sturgis. I have been driving my own Harley® since I was 23 years old. I am a very active member of A.B.A.T.E. of PA (Alliance of Bikers Aimed Towards Education) for over 27 years. My husband and I got married 18 years ago at Daytona Beach during bike week, he has an Ultra Classic®. Our granddaughter Breanna is now 13 years old and she has been riding with us since she was 6, so I have no doubt that she will be riding her own bike when she turns 16. smegal@zoominternet.net
Debbie has been riding for 32 years!
Hi I'm Debbie with my new 2010 Ultra Limited. I've been riding a Harley® for 32 years. I started on my husband's 1954 50th Anniversary Police Servicar® (trike) that he bought the day after I had our first son. He just didn't know that he would never be able to pry me off the drivers seat! I drove the trike for a few years until he restored a 1945 WL® (flathead). It has a rigid frame, kick start and a tank shifter. I drove that bike for 15 years until he bought his first Electra Glide®. By then the kids were grown and we were ready to travel. In 1999 we went to Houston 2 up. I bought my own 2000 Electra Glide Classic® after that trip. That bike has over 93,000 miles on it and is my back up bike for when my 2010 goes in for service. I'm still in the driver's seat and I encourage any woman that wants to ride to go for it! You might get hooked like I did! thunderdeb00@yahoo.com
Star has been riding her own bike for 2 years!
My name is Star and I have been riding my own bike for two years. I have a 2008 1200 Lowin Purple Haze®. Once you get riding in your blood it will become an obsession and a huge part of your life. Last year on a road trip to Niagara Falls with our new 2009 Ultra Classic, my boyfriend proposed to me. Two months later we were married on the showroom floor at New Castle Harley-Davidson®. We rode off into the sunset (ok, the rain) on the bike, but it was still a perfect day shared with two passions, riding and . Riding is an addiction and it is great to see more women riders out there on the open road every year!!! Every women should try it at least once in her life, after that, you will be hooked forever.... hisdarlin143@gmail.com
Shari has been riding for 11 years!
I've been riding my own Harley® for 11 years. I used to be a very active member with the Youngstown Harley Owners Group® when the shop was on Mahoning Ave in Youngstown, OH and followed the shop to Canfield, OH. I rode with my founding members, took the safety course, and then bought my Harley®, a 1195 H-D® Sportster from my friend. I took the course and passed!
My bike was customized by the first owner who is a wrench at Ray Price H-D® in NC (to resemble an H-D® Super Glide Sport) the bike is tough and beefy. I had it painted and replaced the Softail® decals with 61 FLH® tank emblems putting them on with black eyeliner (marking the tank and new paint on the tank) and string from my friend's garage. That was how I measured and got it just perfect! I then rode my bike to the Americade Rally in Lake George, NY the summer of 1998.
I bought a removable windshield in Lake George and had it mounted after riding through the Catskill Mountains with Biker Billy in the severe wind and rain to the rally. when I rode home it was 90 degrees and sunny. The windshield was given to my friend as a gift because it never was attached to my bike again. I don't like it.
I used to sit on my porch while my old man was out riding and cry my eyes out because I wasn't riding. Well I joined H.O.G.®, took the safety course, borrowed money against my home, and been riding my own since! No more waiting around! I seriously LOVE my Harley®! I have launched my new line of clothing and office supplies also. Feel free to email me to the web address for my clothing line! shoveit4507@yahoo.com
Sue has been riding for 37 years!
I started riding in the strip mines in 1973. Hill climbing was soo much fun. Really enjoyed learning to handle the bike as I had never done anything like it before. After a bad crash (not my fault) I quit riding for quite some time since my bike was totaled.
In 2004, when my friend wanted to get her license, I agreed to go to the safety program with her. The course was a good review, and a good introduction to road riding, so I decided I wanted to ride again. We fixed up an old 1984 Honda® V-30, but that didn't hold up for very long. When it quit running one evening, my husband and I tried riding double for about 7 miles. No one was having any fun!
Seeing our plight, my son offered his red Harley® Sportster, and I insisted I try riding it. I was apprehensive, but finally got on, and took it for a short ride. Surprisingly, I felt pretty comfortable on this much larger motorcycle, and I eventually bought it from him.
So last summer my husband and I rode our identical Harley®'s to my 51 year class reunion. My old classmates were quite surprised. That was fun! priestsue@gmail.com
Barbie has been riding for 38 years!
My love affair with motorcycles began in 1969 when I was 19 years old. After watching the newly released film called Easy Rider, starring Peter Fonda on his "Captain America" chopper, I know I wanted a bike. A few years past and finally I had enough money saved to buy a good starter bike. It was a custom 250cc Triumph (with bored out engine for more horsepower), peanut tank, front fork extensions, Z handlebars, and a sissy bar. Back in those days bikes didn't have the horsepower, handling ability or all the options that bikes have now. One option my bike lacked was an electric starter. Sometimes I couldn't kick start it, so I'd push my bike to the end of the street, jump on, coast down the hill, pop the clutch and away I'd go. Nothing was going to stop me. Even the mixed reactions I got from guys, still didn't discourage me. Back then very few girls rode as a passenger on a bike let alone drive one. In fact, I remember only three girls in the Meadville area who had a bike. Thank Good times have changed!
This month I'll turn 60 years old and still have the same love of motorcycles that I had as a young girl. The feel and sound of the bike, the sense of freedom, the excitement of touring a new area, and the camaraderie of new and old friends. Due to a few health issues, I now ride as a passenger on a 2004 V-Rod® Custom. But as I said before, nothing is going to stop me!
